A Letter to Families from Dr. Capuano
April 16, 2025
Dear Parent or Guardian,
I am excited to share with you the new Program of Studies which lists all the core and elective courses offered at Alexander Hamilton Junior-Senior High School. This course guide is the foundation on which an excellent education is built.
Using this guide, we will team with you to develop a schedule that adequately reflects the strengths of your child. There are three areas in which we as a school will work closely with you as we prepare for next year:
1. Core Course Selection- Core classes include English, Social Studies, Math, Science, World Language, and Physical Education. Preliminary recommendations were made by your child’s current teachers prior to Spring Break and will be reviewed by you in May. Should your child wish to take a different core course, there will be opportunities to speak to the respective department chair or your child’s guidance counselor prior to finalizing the schedule.
2. Elective Opportunities- As you will see in our new Course Catalog, there are MANY new and exciting
electives for our students at each grade level. These classes are fascinating and unique and will help your child explore areas of interest while developing a competitive transcript for college.
3. Student Support- If your child has an IEP or 504 Plan, scheduled support classes will be discussed at your respective meetings in the Spring.
I look forward to working with you as we team together to prepare your child for success. Please know that your child’s counselor and our department chairs are willing and able to answer any questions you may have.
In pursuit of excellence,
Jeffrey A. Capuano, Ph.D.
